Mission & Vision
The Dutch National Opera Academy exists to prepare young opera singers for professional life through performance-led education. By placing artistic practice, reflection, and real-world experience at the centre of training, the Academy forms adaptable, resilient artists equipped to meet the evolving demands of today’s international opera profession.
The DNOA envisions an opera field in which singers are artistically independent, collaborative, and professionally aware — capable of shaping sustainable careers while contributing meaningfully to an art form in continuous dialogue with society.
Shaping the next generation of opera artists
The DNOA curriculum integrates technical, dramatic, and physical training within a performance-led educational model. Alongside the development of high-level skills, students are supported in shaping a clear artistic identity and professional profile. All components of the programme are designed to prepare singers for a confident transition from study to the realities of professional operatic life.

Our team
DNOA students have the opportunity to work with a wide range of well-established and respected specialists from the international opera scene. These include vocal coaches and teachers, directors, conductors and agents as well as people from the field of cultural management and performance psychology who lead masterclasses, seminars and workshops.
The closing date for applications to join the programme in Autumn 2026 is Sunday 11. January 2026.
