Daniël van Klaveren (1983) is an actor, writer, director and teacher. In 2005 he graduated as an actor at the Utrecht School of the Arts before starting work as an ensemble member at Theatergroep Wederzijds, under the artistic direction of Ad de Bont. He subsequently worked for four years at Toneelmakerij, where he performed in various productions including Fanny and Alexander, Pinocchio, the Boevenkoning and Mehmet de veroveraar among others. At the same time, he further developed his profile as a director and writer directing the See You exchange project with Theater Day Productions, where he and a team of directors developed performances in the Gaza Strip.

Freelance since 2013, he teaches at the HKU, the Rotterdam Acting School and the Dutch National Opera Academy where he also directed Mozart’s Così fan tutte. His work with young people includes projects for Hofplein and theater group DOX.

He wrote and directed the well-received productions Jamal, Maarten de meeuwen Nadia at the Toneelmakerij and Zus van Mozart and Neushoornspektakel at STIP theatre productions. He also directed at theatre WEI, at the Nieuw Utrechts Toneel, ROSE Stories, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and at Opera Zuid (Le nozze di Figaro). Next year he will direct his own edition of Monteverdi’s Orfeo at Theater Sonnevanck in collaboration with the Nederlandse Reisopera. In January 2022 Daniël van Klaveren will become the new artistic director of the Theater Sonnevanck Enschede.
