To achieve a convincing role interpretation, it is necessary to have researched the background of the repertoire in hand. The DNOA student learns to ask the right questions about his/her chosen repertoire - and also where to find the answers.

Within the structure of the DNOA course, there are colloquia to discuss all sorts of questions that might rise concerning the profession. Guests like casting directors, opera directors, experienced singers, agents and others are invited to answer the many questions of young singers.

At the end of the course the student will hand in a master thesis on a self chosen subject. This is achieved with the help of a specialist who guides the student in the making of his/her written component.
